Top 5 Fakeaway Dishes
One of the hardest things about ‘quitting sugar’ is not being able to grab a takeaway. I love a good Chinese, but whenever I fancy one, I make myself some ‘cheating’ chow mein noodles… and there’s more where that came from! Take a look at the top 5 fakeaway dishes to reach for when you fancy reaching for the menu.
Malaysian Prawns/Noodles
Sometimes you get a craving for ‘junk’ food. Whether it’s for comfort after a bad day at work, or you just can’t be bothered to cook… the good news is, this dish is much cheaper at less than £2.50 per head, AND it only takes 10 minutes… which is a lot quicker than ordering a takeaway!

Bombay Style Prawns
Rich in tumeric and other fantastic indian spices, this dish contains so much nutrients it’s unreal. Did you know? Tumeric contains TONNES of iron, magnesium, dietry fibre, potassium, vitamin C and calcium… ALL things which your body absolutely needs to function at the top level. What else? Well, it has proven anti-cancer properties and anti-inflammatory properties too. It’s also natural aspirin… it’s been used in eastern medicine for thousands of years to heal.
Fakeaway Fish and Chips
This fakeaway fish and chips recipe won’t leave you feeling like you miss the real thing, because it’s so much better. With that little ‘greasy element’ coming from the butter baked fish, sweet potato fries rich in nutrients and those green veg on the side, you won’t miss that local chippy one bit.
Rather than being high in grease and simple carbs, this take on fish and chips contains lots of nutrients such as complex carbs, vitamin C, iron and more… it’s certainly a lot better for you than it’s takeaway cousin. Add a wedge of lemon on the side to finish it off!
Go on, give it a go! You won’t be disappointed…
Oriental Beef
I use my slow cooker on an almost daily basis. I’m out of the house for nearly 12 hours most days with a long commute so quite frankly, my slow cooker can be a lifesaver. Who can be bothered to stand and cook for 30 minutes + when you’ve had a long day at work?
I try and buy a mixture of meat cuts for throughout the week and they usually depend on what’s on offer. Beef, lamb, pork and all different cuts of each, curries, stews… you name it, you can cook it in the slow cooker and make it into tasty fakeaway dishes.
So this little recipe was born out of need. I wanted something Chinese style to bust the craving I had for a takeaway ( I LOVE a good takeaway). But I know they’re not exactly great for you, so, I set about making my own little cheat recipe. Here it is, slow cooker beef, oriental style!
Boston Beef
This Boston Beef Tacos fakeaway dishes recipe costs around £2 per head making it a great sharer for a dinner party or family meal. There’s so many things you can do with a slow cooker that most people don’t even realise, and here’s one way you can use it to create easy meals with minimal effort. I also find a lot of the cuts of meat which work well in the slow cooker are really cheap because they take a long time to cook.
