How To Keep Healthy On Work Trips
This week I’m away with work for 7 days at the Canoe Slalom World Championships in London. We’ve got food provided all week of course, but it’s just a catering tent so the choices are limited and not exactly healthy. So, how do I stay healthy? I pack my own ‘snacks’ to keep my immune system firing on all cylinders.
I got this lot from Holland and Barratt for £12. There’s enough there to keep me going for seven days whilst I have to eat things which I probably wouldn’t normally eat. Where we are based there are very few restaurants too so choice in an evening is also limited.
What have I packed?
Mixed nuts – Walnuts (rich in Omega-3, essential for a a variety of reasons, but is great at beating inflammation. They also contain lots of antioxidents), Brazil Nuts, Cashew Nuts (rich in iron and zinc to keep me feeling energetic and awake!), Pecan Nuts (great for heart health) and Redskin Peanuts (high in copper, manganese and vitamin B3 – all essential minerals for your body).
Seeds – Chai Seeds (high in protein, fibre and omega-3), Pumpkin Seeds (high in magnesium which helps when I start to get a migraine attack – they work very well!), Sunflower Seeds (high in magnesium and iron – both excellent for women’s health) and Sesame Seeds (high in calcium, essential for healthy bones, teeth, hair and nails).
Fruit – Goji berries (immunity boosting and great for brain health).
What are your essentials when you pack for a holiday or trip away?
