Banana and Oat Workout Cookies
Banana and Oat Workout Cookies… This is a little recipe I invented after I’d started to get a few requests about workout and fitness foods. I designed this recipe using normal, everyday items I had in my cupboard to show how easy it is! They’re low sugar, high energy cookies, perfect for those workout sessions!
- 200g oats
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1 tsp rice malt syrup
- 2 tsp chai seeds to top
These are super easy to make but will last for a while if stored correctly. They’re also really useful as breakfast cookies and they keep you feeling full for a long time, so I make a little stash and keep them in a Tupperware and take to work for my breakfast for the week! Anyway let’s get on with making them…
Heat the oven to gas mark 5. Put your oats in a bowl. Roughly chop your banana and add this in too along with the rice malt syrup. Now the messy bit, take a wooden spoon, masher or with your hands, squash together the oats and banana and mix until it forms a cookie-dough like texture.
Grease a baking tray. Take little balls of dough and roll them into a ball in your hand, then place them on the baking tray and flatten down to form rustic cookie shapes.
Sprinkle with chai seeds and place in the centre of the oven. Bake on gas mark 5 for 40-50 minutes, until fully cooked and crispy. If you take them out the oven too early, they will still be fine to eat, they will just be more soft and flap-jack like rather than cookie-like!
You can also mix the recipe up a little bit and add some nuts or extra seeds, or even a little dark chocolate!?
